Interesting facts about me

I love to fish and hunt - drew cow tags this year, yippeeeee. I'm retired from teaching high school special ed - moderate - severely retarded/severly emotionally disturbed teens. I love to bake and cook and my HD shows that, he eats too good. We live in a little known part of Oregon, and both have PTSD. I am originally from Hawaii, my family is several generational involved in the Army/ Air force. My nephew is a budding Air force surgeon doing his first stint in Iraq. My late father served as a Medic in WWII - Korean War. He was diagnoised with shell shock and medically discharged from the Air force after spending several months at Walter Reed - guess the Army food appealed to him as soon as he could sneak back in he re-enlisted this time in the Army and stayed there without further complications for another 20 years. We only leanred this later after his death when we appled for his burial benefits - the reason behind the 22 years of service. Dad got into a bar fight just a few weeks before retirement and was busted down to PFC, he would then spend the next 20 years drawing that pension before divorce and medical problems alerted the VA to his situation. His pension was restored but never retro-activated. Dad's pension, if I recall correctly was $96.00 per month for a long long time. And to think all he needed was to seek assistance from the VA.

My husband's choice is Spokane, Boise or Portland for VAMC - anything else is either at La Grande or Walla Walla - its -3 degrees outside brrrrrrrr! I hear Hermiston is getting a VA center like La Grande's.
